The coastline around Malin Head - officially the most northern point in Ireland - is not a place for the faint hearted or timid on a windy December afternoon.

But it still looked quite lovely.

For those not familiar with the subtleties of Irish geography, Malin Head is in the Republic, which is frequently called the South.

But this particular part of the South is more northerly than any part of the North, which is the commonly used name for nearby Northern Ireland.

And we wonder why visitors from other countries might sometimes get confused.....
