Description
A light early mist rises from the placid waters of the River Boyne in Drogheda.
It's a balmy unhurried Sunday morning - one of the final ones of that particular summer. The small fishing boats and their crews are on a well-earned day off.
Behind them, rises the magnificent Boyne Viaduct, thirty metres above the river. It was constructed in the 1850s to carry the main Dublin-Belfast railway line across this historic waterway.
With its fifteen stone arches and huge steel girders, it's one of the finest examples of 19th century bridge design in Ireland.
