Description
The Cavan Burren Park truly is one of Ireland's hidden gems. This unique prehistoric landscape is a wonderland of monuments, megalithic tombs, ancient art rock and spectacular geology. Some 5,000 years of history are literally etched into the ancient stony soil.
This is the Giant's Grave, a spectacular seven metres long wedge tomb, which is just one of many similar structures set in elevated paths and woodland.
The Cavan Burren is located close to the village of Blacklion on the Cavan/Fermanagh border.
The word Burren comes from the Irish for a stony place. It's a place name that appears in several other parts of the country, most notably the famous Burren, some 200 kilometres away in County Clare.
