There's off the beaten track. And then there's the #Carrowteige loop walk in #NorthMayo, a heayweight contender for your #Ireland bucket list.
This is an absolute hidden gem tucked away from the many more densely populated tourist attractions on Ireland's west coast. You'll find no coffee shop or visitor centre here.
To get there, drive west from the #CeideFields - which has an excellent visitor centre - and take a right turn at Glenamoy. Then stop when the road stops.
You will be richly rewarded with splendidly rugged cliffs and dramatic sea views. The terrain is rough and remote, but nothing that a strong pair of hiking boots and reasonably good weather gear can't handle.
Carrowteige is located in a Gaeltacht (native Irish speaking) area, the name being an anglicized version of the original Ceathru Taidhg.
