Description
Sunsets are wonderful. But they’re even more dramatic when combined with an impressive example of 19th century engineering such as the Boyne Viaduct in Drogheda
The Viaduct with its fifteen arches carries the main Dublin-Belfast railway line. Construction began in 1853 and lasted some two years. At the time, it was only the seventh bridge of its kind in the world.
Prior to its opening, passengers had to alight from their train and make their way through the town to board another on the far side of the river.
And the sunset? Timeless.
