Description
The coastline of County Meath on the Irish east coast is just seven miles long - but it is unique in being almost entirely a beach.
People in the adjoining villages of Laytown, Bettystown and Mornington share this wonderful shoreline with many thousands of visitors throughout the year.
For many years, cars were permitted to drive and park on this beach, before sense prevailed in 2020 when vehicles were finally banned. The effect has been enormously positive.
This image, with the wonderful backdrop of the Mourne Mountains in County Down, shows this wonderful resource at its magnificent best.
