Description
Ards Forest Park, on the northern coast of County Donegal, is a revelation.
The view from the road, however, gives little indication of its 1,200 acres of coniferous and deciduous woodlands.
These stretch all the way down to a large secluded beach in a delightful setting of mountains, forest and sea.
Among the variety of attractions and habitats are sand dunes, beaches, salt marshes, salt water lakes, rock face, hiking trails and, of course, thousands of trees.
The park entrance is located a few miles west of the attractive village of Dunfanaghy.
This image was created on a wrap-up-tight February morning when a low sun and wispy sea mist wrapped the forest in a light cloak of magic.
